I don’t know about you guys but I take about three hours every morning to wake up. I’m talking from the moment my five alarms force me out of my reverie, until I stumble into the office, bleary eyed and only partially alive.
That’s why when my colleagues suddenly hear an exasperated ‘COMFFEEE NOW’ at 10am, it’s not because I’ve had a sudden epiphany that 10am is the best time to get coffee, nor is it because ‘comffeee’ is a real thing at all, but rather it’s the only time I can actually open my mouth to express vague syllables that have the potential to one day become words that might eventually turn into sentences.
After years of accidentally getting into a 10am caffeine habit, I eventually stumbled across a cartoon that changed my life. It was the year 1995 and the cartoon was Beauty and the Beast. Jokes, but it is the best Disney film ever. No, it was last week and the infograph, co-written by The Oatmeal (hence The Oatmeal-ish feel to it) basically says your body doesn’t need caffeine at the times you think it does. Truly groundbreaking stuff.
Best of all 10am was a winning time! WE WIN! HIGH FIVE TO US! So do your caffeine colleagues a favour the next time you see them clutching a cup of coffee at 9am for dear life. Gently sit them down and show them this life changing infograph. Be sure to first explain to them what an infograph is if you work in certain, how should we say “older environments”.
Anyway I digress, the cartoon in question is by Ryoko from I Love Coffee who created this post based on an article by Steven Miller Ph.D.
Have a gander why not:
